Peter Hayes is the main antoganist in ''Divergent'' .He is one of Tris Prior's mortal enemies. Throughout the novel Peter is shown as ill-tempered and easily jealous. Readers can realize it from following examples.
''I am sick of doing bad things and liking it and wondering what is wrong with me .I want it to be over. I want to start again''.⁷
''He pulls me forward a few inches and then slams me against the wall again. I clench my teeth to keep from crying out, though pain from the impact went all the way down my spine.
Will grabs Peter by his shirt collar and drags him away from me. “Leave her alone,” he says. “Only a coward bullies a little girl.”
“A little girl?” scoffs Peter, throwing off Will’s hand. “Are you blind, or just stupid? She’s going to edge you out of the rankings and out of Dauntless, and you’re going to get nothing, all because she knows how to manipulate people and you don’t. So when you realize that she’s out to ruin us all, you let me know.”⁸
Jeanine Matthews is antoganist. She is a leader of the Erudite faction because of her high IQ level. Writer describes her cold, harsh and manipulative. Her biggest desire is to establish control over all factions. The reader can realize it from this example.

Eric is static character and antoganist in this novel. He is Dauntless leader who is though brutal and very strict.When Tris transfer her faction to Dauntless he becomes aware about her secret and starts observing her more often .
''You got three options. Hang there and I will forget your covvardice, fall and die , or give up .But if you give up you are out. Dauntless never gives up''.¹⁰
By this speech It is clearly seen that Eric tries to kill Tris.
Conclusion
Veronica Roth is talented writer ,even some people says that the ''Divergent''series is a rip-off of Suzanne Collin's ''Hungry Game'' series,but I believe that Veronica is a talented author and she has her own ideas. She is beginning her writer career.
In this book Veronica examines how choices lead to bravery ,betrayal and greed.After reading this book everyone may learn something new for their life. This book encourages readers to explore multiple solutions,making decisions independently and create new strategies in order to achieve to aims .This book also help students find a love for learning and help them become life-long learners. After reading ''Divergent '' I came to the conclusion that even though when society tries to impact to change our character,our decision we bever should lost our personality. Veronica Roth illustrates this kind of person with Tris, who has courage and brave and never does not bow to enemies or to difficulties. All in all the moral force of the book lies in the constant reminder that person should always under all circumstances,make decisions for himself rather than letting society dictate these decisions to us.
