Alisher Nava’I was born in 1441 in Herat, which is now in nort-western Afghanistan. During Alisher’s life time, Herat was ruled by the Timured Empire and became one of the leading cultural and intellectual centres in the Muslim world. Alisher belonged to the Chagatai amir class of the Timured elite. Alisher father, Giyasiddin Kichkina, served as a high-ranking officer in the palace of Shahrukh Mirza, a ruler of Khorasan, Abul qasim Babur Mirza, adopted guardianship of the young of the young man. Alisher Navoi was a schoolmat of Husayn Bayqarah, who would later become the sultan of Khorasan. Alisher’s family was forced to flee Herat in 1447 after the death of Shahrukh created an unstable political situation. His family returned to Khorasan after order was restored in the 1530s. In 1456, Alisher and Bayqarah went to Mashhad with ibn Baysunkur. The following year ibn Baysunkur died and Alisher nd Bayqarah parted ways. While Bayqarah tried to establish political power, Alisher pursued his studies in Mashhad, Herat, and Samarkand. After the death of Abu Sa’id Mirza in 1469, Husayn Bayqarah seized power in Herat Consequently, Alisher left Samarkand to join his service. Barqarah ruled Khorasan almost ininterruptedly fior forty years. Alisher remained in the service of Bayqarah until his death on 3 January 1501. He was buried in Herat. Alisher Nava’I led an ascetic lifestyle, “never marrying or having concubines or children”.
During 1464-65 the fans of Navoi’s creation collected all of his poems and copied them to make “devon”. Since 1469 Navoi had lived far from Herat because of the inside fights which were going in Timurid’s stste. According to the capacity of Alisher Navoi’s work is more than 60000 verses. His “Hamsa” includes the following dostons (plays): “Hayratu-l-abror”, “Farhod va Shirin”, “Layli va Majnun”, “Sab’ai sayyor”, “Saddi Iskandariy”. Navoi was the first poet who created completed “Hamsa” in turkiy language ( the old Uzbek language) and proved that such great work could be written in turkiy. His most important work is the “Hamsa” (Quintuple), five poems written between 1483 and 1485. The first, “Haytatu-l-abror” (Astronishment of Nice People) is a philosophical work. The second poem is “Farhod and Shirin”. The third is “Layli and Majnun” The fourth, “Sabbai-Sayyor” (Seven Planets), consists of seven short works around a common theme, the quarrel between King Bahrom and his beloved Dilorom. The fifth is “Saddi Iskandariy” (The wall of Iskandar). Alisher Navoi spent his last years in Herat. His last book, “Mahbub-ul-qulub” (The love of sweethearts), which was written in prose, is wery popularwith the Uzbek people to this day. His works have entred the treasury of world literature and have been translated into many language. Navoi’ poems in old Uzbek were collected into four parts, which were called “Chor-Devon” (The four Divans). His poems in Persian were collected and called “Devoni-Foni” (Foni’s Divans). 3.Opinions of Navoi scholars. According Saida Naarzullayeva More than 120 dostons (plays) which called “Layli va Majnun” were written in Eastern literature. Navoi also wrote “Layli va Majnun” and he described this theme in quite another way (the professor of the faculty of Uzbek Philology, the Tashkent state university Saida Narzullayeva. According Erkinov.S Navoi expressed his tasavvufiy thougts also in “Farhod and Shirin”, “Hayratu-l-abror”. According Aliev G.Y The problems which are connected with the leader were the main plan in “Sab’ai Sayyor” and “Saddi Iskandariy” which are the parts of “Hamsa”is distungished with its social-political character and being original. According Erkinov.A Having read Navoi’s “Hamsa” Abdurahmon Jomi, who was the teacher and adviser of Navoi, was impressed and appreciated his work. Conclusion. In short, Alisher Navoi is an incomparable poet not only of Uzbek literature, but also of world literature. Indeed, Alisher Navoi is the sultan of poetic property.
