1.2. Why are critical skills so important in education and learning

Good writing skills enhance focus and help students develop eloquence.
This is a quality that sticks with them for life and hence, it is best to develop it
early in school.
Writing is one of the fundamental skills taught in schools. What
starts with the introduction of the English language to alphabets and numbers
advances to sentence formation, grammar, vocabulary, etc. It is needless to say that
writing skills should be acquired by each student. It is a form of communication
that is necessary for education as well as for any profession.
Learning English writing skills in school can go a long way for students.
This globally acquired form of communication is also an efficient job skill that one

10
must possess. Irrespective of what field one chooses, they are required to use their
writing skills to convey their thoughts.
School curriculums are designed in a way that fosters the writing skills of
the students. Aside from being a pre-requisite to succeeding in the professional
world, the importance of English writing skills for students can be scaled across
the following benefits.
Writing is a form of expression and self-evaluation. Poetry,
prose, stories, journals, and books are forms and mediums of writing that help
individuals reflect upon their most intimate thoughts. Students who are indulged in
extensive studies can use writing as a form of hobby or escape to take some time
off for themselves. This helps them grasp their thoughts and put them into words.
Mastering the art of putting thoughts into words helps students improve their
writing skills on a personal level.
The academic curriculum in today‘s time is
focused on encouraging students to express their learning and imply it practically.
Hence, for students, writing skills are at the core of their education. To support the
same, schools and colleges focus on assigning writing activities like research
papers, essays, reports, presentations, etc. Each academic year, the curriculum
excels and so do the writing skills with these forms of assignments and exams.
Since writing is so deeply engraved in the academic syllabus, it gives students a
chance to reflect on career options based on writing. Students can focus on
improving their writing skills in school and prepare themselves for a professional
writing career. There are many forms of writing, such as narrative, argumentative,
research-based, creative, etc., that students can pursue based on their English
writing skills.
It is common for students to possess good writing skills but fall short on
their speaking skills. In that case, English writing, reading, and speaking skills go
hand-in-hand. If students read enough, it stimulates their brains, triggers their
imagination and fills them with more knowledge. This gives them more content to
write about. When they get into the habit of writing, inspired by their reading, it
enhances their ability to put across their thoughts, which is also an important skill
when it comes to speaking. Hence, a combination of these three forms of

11
communication evolves students in a wholesome way.
Writing skills are not only
essential when leading to extensive results. It could be simply used to take notes in
the middle of a lecture, online workshop, or work meeting, or to draft an outline of
the idea that you wish to convey. Writing takes place in many stages. It is as
important in the brainstorming and ideation stages as it is in the final stage.
Writing skills also help in excelling at English proficiency tests like PTE
Academic, which helps students secure admission to the best colleges across the
globe. However, students should acquire writing skills to achieve goals that go
beyond just good grades. Some students have a flair for writing, while others don‘t.
There is no need to stress about it even one bit because it can be acquired with
constant practice and definitive study materials.
Students can use Pearson K-12 as their ally in enhancing their English
writing skills. It is customized according to the curriculum of CBSE, ICSE, State
and International Boards, and includes highly engaging content. So it is possible
for students to develop writing skills without deflecting from their academic
syllabus. Good writing skills enhance focus and help students develop eloquence.
This is a quality that sticks with them for life and hence, it is best to develop it
early in school.
One of the best ways to express yourself is through writing. For
this reason, educational institutions have put a strong emphasis on this skill.
Throughout college, students like you must submit numerous writing assignments
to complete your course. Your teachers expect you to complete these tasks well.
Unfortunately, many students find difficulty in composing well-written papers and
have professional academic writers write my essay for me instead. You need to
learn ways to improve your writing skills as these will benefit you in school and
when you start working after you graduate too.
Writing is one of the core skills that
will benefit you in school and in the real world. It is the basis of communication
and almost all types of disciplines. You use writing skills in your classrooms right
from the beginning of your school life. The ability to write papers is almost a basic
skill in expressing thoughts.

12
From developing your motor skills when you were young to the writing of
essays and other academic papers that display your persuasive or critical thinking
skills, it has been part of your life for such a long time now. Writing is also
considered the foundation of expression that teachers impart to students, then build
upon throughout the years. Even if specialized writing classes have become less
popular, it still requires a complex combination of skills that you need in your life.
Writing is a great way to inform, entertain, and teach others while
educating yourself too. While some children are naturally gifted writers, others
need to learn this skill. To succeed in writing, you need sufficient knowledge and
experience in terms of the topic you will write about. You also need to improve
your writing skills. Students who start honing their writing skills at an early age
can achieve higher levels of academic success compared to those who start late.
These benefits can lead to superb professional skills too. The mastery of
good writing is often associated with an improved performance of children at
school. Young children who learn to write complete sentences without any
mistakes are more likely to develop writing skills while growing up.
If you want your writing skills to improve, you must always make sure to
submit a research paper or essay without plagiarism. Writing well means
submitting original work and this is an essential academic ability you must have. If
you find yourself needing essay help at any point, you can go online and
use StudyClerk essay fixer and plagiarism checker. Checking your work for
plagiarism is an important practice, just like proofreading and editing. So you
always do this before submitting any written work.
Good writers have a knack for always thinking outside of the box. Writing
is a skill that isn't inherited from parents. To succeed, you need to cultivate,
nurture, and keep practicing it. The best writers have the ability to generate unique
concepts and ideas quickly because of their vast experiences with writing. They
know how to start the process and what to focus on to come up with unique
thoughts. They also know how to keep high quality in their written work.

13
Writing can also speed up your brain's functioning. Most of us have had
experienced feeling stiff and fatigued when we wake up. Whenever you feel this,
your brains will barely function, let alone do anything academic. But if you engage
yourself in writing, this can help stimulate your brain. Even writing a couple of
paragraphs, you could become more active and productive almost instantly.
Communication is another essential skill that you need to master. Whether you're
tasked with teaching writing skills to kids or writing comprehensive essays, having
good writing skills will improve your ability to communicate.
When your communication skills improve, you can succeed academically
and in the other aspects of your life. Without communication, we will lose the true
meaning of life. This is another reason why writing is deeply integrated into school
curriculums. Teachers use it as a way to improve students' communication skills.
Writing is an excellent way for you to learn and understand all the rules of your
language and how you can organize concepts better with more coherence.
Good writers are also good readers. Through writing, you can give your
inner thoughts a voice and an identity that you can share with other people. Writing
is a form of communication that transcends time. If you're learning how to write
effectively, focus on comprehension, phonics, develop your perspective or style,
communicate your perspective and the mechanics.
There are some important skills students have to learn as they go from one
stage to another in their academics. These skills are taught in our schools—right
from high school through to the college years—to expose them to the different
ways they can solve real-life problems whenever they‘re confronted with one.
Among all these is writing, which is, undeniably, one of the most important
skills every student must perfect.
Writing, as a skill itself, offers the students the opportunity to
simultaneously catch on to many other vital facilities that can help them succeed in
their academics, career, and also in other relevant aspects of their lives.

14
Sadly, however, many students do not seem to understand the importance
writing has in their lives. This is why, in this article, we‘ll be examining, together,
some of the importance of writing and why it so much matters to students, at all.
As a student, you must have heard it several times that writing is an
important life skill to learn, which is why it is deliberately taught in all our schools
today.
However, you may still find it a bit difficult to believe this, and I
understand why…
You do not really know why it is so important! Those essays you write are
not really a sort of punishment that your teachers hand out to unnecessarily
frustrate you.
No, far from it!
Writing, actually, is a skill that has a whole lot of benefits, not only to you
as a student but to you as a person, too.
So why is writing is taught today in schools?
