components have higher molar fractions in products from the
rectifying sections while the opposite occurs with products from
the stripping sections. These profiles are the result of the fraction-
ing process. Since the proposed example deals with high-quality
crude, the flows of light Naphtha (LSR) and heavy Naphtha (Naph-
tha) should be considerably high, representing approximately half
of the crude.
Specified Model
According to the degrees of freedom analysis, it is necessary to
add specifications to each column in order to have a completely
specified system that has the same number of equations as vari-
ables. To choose these specifications one must be aware that not
all specifications are compatible and that if they are not chosen
properly, the system might not have a solution.
