Lisa A. Christensen
Lisa Christensen began training in the martial arts in the mid-1990s, earning black belts in taekwondo and American Freestyle Karate. She also earned a brown belt in kempo, and has studied kickboxing, jujitsu, and arnis. She has extensive teaching experience in the martial arts working with adults and children. She began training with her husband, Loren W. Christensen, in 2003 and has appeared in several of his books and DVDs. She has been the principal photographer for numerous martial arts books and magazine articles and is the co-author of Fight Back: A Woman’s Guide to Self-Defense That Works. Lisa has worked as a Workers’ Comp Claims Examiner for over 30 years. She is certified to adjudicate claims in Oregon and retains an Oregon General Lines Adjuster License. Lisa currently handles Oregon claims for national and regional Oregon accounts, as well as insured and self-insured clients. Lisa has also worked extensively as a jewelry designer and her work is featured on Facebook, ETSY, and her website, www.LAfinery.com . Lawrence A. Kane, COP-GOV Lawrence Kane is a Certified Outsourcing Professional in Governance (COP-GOV) and a senior leader at a Fortune® 50 corporation where, among other things, he is responsible for the strategy for a $1.1B per year organization. He architected the IT infrastructure strategy, governed the software asset management process, and established the Sourcing Strategy and Vendor Management organizations. He saved the company well over $2.1B by hiring, training, and developing a high-performance team that creates sourcing strategies, improves processes, negotiates contracts, and benchmarks internal and external supplier performance. He advances thought leadership in strategic sourcing, benchmarking, and supplier innovation as a frequent speaker at conferences such as Sourcing Industry Group (SIG) and International Association of Outsourcing Professionals (IAOP). His is also a member of the SIG University Advisory Board and the IAOP Training and Certification Committee. He previously worked as a business technology instructor at a technical college for eight years where received student accolades for communicating effectively, demonstrating patience, and fostering a positive learning environment. A bestselling author, martial artist, and judicious use-of-force expert, his books have earned three USA Book News Best Books Award finalists, an eLit Book Awards Bronze prize, two Next Generation Indie Book Awards finalists, and two ForeWord Magazine Book of the Year Award finalists. A founding technical consultant to University of New Mexico’s Institute of Traditional Martial Arts, he also has written numerous articles on martial arts, self-defense, countervailing force, and related topics. He has spoken with journalists numerous times, including once where he was interviewed in English by a reporter from a Swiss newspaper for an article that was published in French, and found that oddly amusing. Since 1970, he has studied and taught traditional Asian martial arts, medieval European combat, and modern close-quarter weapon techniques.
