Some people think that young children need to attend nursery before primary school. While others believe young children can spend all day at home.
Discuss both views and give your opinion.
Ages 2 to 7 are some of the most critical years in a child’s life. In this respect, it is suggested that young children be sent to pre-school before they reach school age, though some people are in favor of keeping them at home. I tend to agree with the former view.
To start, there are a couple of reasons why young children can be raised at home. The primary reason has to do with developing stronger family bonds. It is fair to say that children who spend more time with their parents tend to be more affectionate towards them than those who do not. Unlike at home, mutual love between parents and children can hardly be nurtured when they are reared at nurseries. Furthermore, what makes bringing up children at home a more appealing option is its affordability. Most day care centers are costly compared with the home option, so parents in rather disadvantaged households choose to care for children with no outside help.
I, on the other hand, support the idea of preceding school education with nursery care. The chief reason is young children’s overall growth, personal as well as physical. More specifically, children learn to communicate and co-operate better at nurseries when surrounded by other children their age. A range of games they play at such centers help improve their dexterity seeing as their muscles are more physically engaged when playing these games. These factors are essential for their future success, not only at school, but also in life. Additionally, young children can get a head start in their academic life. This is because most day care centers teach children how to count, read letters and recognize shapes and colors. Having learnt these basic concepts, they are more likely to succeed at school than their peers who start learning at a later age.
In conclusion, even though raising young children at home appears reasonable in some respects, I subscribe to the idea of nursery education since it is indispensable for their overall development as well as their future prospects.
