STUDYING THE WEAR PROCESS OF SLIDING PAIRS

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the wear process in friction pairs from various materials.


THEORETICAL INFORMATION: The main indicators characterizing the wear process are: the amount of wear and its speed. The rate of consumption per unit of time can be determined as follows:

REQUIRED TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT: Special stand (or metal


cutting machines), micrometer, indicator device, samples.

OPERATING PROCEDURE:


1. Study the presented scheme of the stand (Fig. 3).
2. Measure the samples and record their dimensions in the table.
3. Install one of the samples on the stand.
4. Run the test. Samples during the test, in a certain period of time is measured. Write it down in a table.
5. Based on the obtained results, build a graph of wear over time (Fig. 4).
6. Looking at the graph, draw a conclusion about the wear of friction pairs.

1. Guidelines for teaching the academic discipline


"Tribology" studies the basic tribological patterns for solving specific design, technological and operational problems related to friction, wear and lubrication in machines and mechanisms, as well as the targeted selection of materials with the necessary physical and mechanical properties, degree of accuracy, surface quality and operating conditions of parts in mobile connections.
