"Cuvée Jean-Michel"

It is the "rarest" Beaujolais wine. The name of the denomination comes from an oak tree forest that used to cover the

hills. The forest was cleared following a royal order by Phillip V (in 1316). Trees on the Rémont mountain were cut

down and vines were planted.  Chénas is said to be Louis XIII's (1601-1643) favourite wine. Wine-makers even say

that the king did not drink other wines.

Jean-Michel is the oldest of Pierre Ferraud's three sons. He was the first to join the family business. The Chénas has

always been the favourite wine of the Maison (230 hectares). Is is so close to the Moulin à Vent wine that the Chénas

should be more promoted.

So it is a wine for real Beaujolais connoisseurs.

Gamay noir with white juice

manganese, granite sand

This wine has a ruby-red colour close to garnet-red. It usually offers a nice silk velvet appearance.

This wine has floral aromas (peony and rose). Spicy and wooded hints are revealed when the wine ages.

Generous and soft on the palate, Chénas is a full-bodied, powerful and voluptuous wine. It is a complex wine.

Our Chénas « Cuvée Jean-Michel » pairs perfectly with meat dished with sauce, kid and strong cheeses. To be served

ideally at 12, 14°C.

If you store it for 5 to 7 years, depending on the vintages, the wine gets more round, elegant and voluptuous.

Therefore, you need to wait at 2 or 3 years.
