I FOREST FIRES UNDER CONTROL
: A forest fire that broke out on a farm three days ago is now under control. Firefighters were running out of
water supplies yesterday, but helicopters brought extra supplies today to help put out the blaze. Huge areas 
: of forest have been wiped out by the fire. Many farm buildings were also reduced to rubble. Fortunately the 
: fire did not spread to a nearby town, which could have cut the town off from firefighters.

If you clean up something that is dirty or untidy, you get rid of it by wiping, sweeping, etc.
Anne cleaned up the house and sat at the kitchen table.
E If you clean up or clean up a place or person, you clean them.
Consider for a moment the costs of cleaning up rivers and beaches.
NOTE I You can also use clear up.

If you get through a task, you succeed in finishing it.
I got though a lot of work this morning.
E If you get through a difficult experience, or someone or something gets you through it, you survive it.
