Part 2 – topic 2 Describe a time when you received money on your birthday Who gave it and why When you received it What you did with it How you felt about it My birthday is one of my favourite days of the year, and I've received many wonderful gifts over the years, but there is one particular occasion that stands out in my memory. It was my 18th birthday, and my parents gave me some money as a gift. My parents have always been generous, but this gift was particularly special because it marked my transition into adulthood. They gave me the money to spend on whatever I wanted, as a way of encouraging me to start taking more responsibility for my own life. I received the gift on the morning of my birthday, and I was thrilled. I remember feeling excited and a little bit nervous about what I would do with the money. At that age, I was just starting to think about my future and what I wanted to do with my life, so this gift felt like a sign of trust from my parents. In the end, I decided to put the money towards my university education. I had been accepted to a top-tier school, but the tuition fees were quite high, and I wasn't sure how I would pay for it all. With the money my parents gave me, I was able to cover a significant portion of my first year's fees, which took a huge weight off my shoulders. Looking back on that experience, I realize that it wasn't just the money itself that made it so special. It was the fact that my parents gave it to me with such love and trust, and that they believed in me enough to let me make my own decisions about how to use it. It was a gesture that made me feel valued, supported, and empowered, and it's one that I will always cherish. Part 3
Children begin to comprehend the value of money at a young age, usually around 5 or 6 years old. At this age, they may start asking questions about money and may even express a desire to have their own money. As they grow older and become more independent, their understanding of the importance of money develops gradually. For example, they may start to learn about saving money and making wise spending decisions. However, it is important for parents to continue teaching their children about financial responsibility as they grow older. Should parents reward children with money? Rewarding children with money can be a good way to teach them the value of hard work and encourage financial responsibility. However, parents should be cautious about over-relying on monetary rewards and should also emphasize the importance of non-financial rewards such as praise and recognition. Additionally, parents should consider the circumstances when deciding whether or not to reward their children with money, as it may not always be the most appropriate form of motivation. Is it good and necessary to teach children to save money? Teaching children to save money is not only good, but also necessary. By developing financial discipline at a young age, children can prepare themselves for a financially secure future. Additionally, learning the value of delayed gratification and responsible spending habits can help children avoid financial difficulties later in life. Parents can encourage their children to save money by setting a good example, establishing a savings goal, and making saving fun and rewarding. Why do people rarely use cash now? The shift towards digital payments and online transactions has made cashless transactions more convenient and accessible. Using digital payments is faster, more secure, and offers greater flexibility. Moreover, the current COVID-19 pandemic has further accelerated the adoption of digital payments as people avoid handling physical currency to prevent the spread of the virus. Additionally, the availability of credit and debit cards has made it easier for people to make purchases without carrying cash. Do you agree that nowadays people value money the most? While money certainly plays an important role in modern society, it is subjective and varies from person to person whether people value money the most. Some people may prioritize other aspects of life such as relationships, health, and personal growth. However, it is undeniable that money is necessary for meeting basic needs and achieving financial stability, which is why it is often considered important. What do young people spend money on? Young people tend to spend money on a variety of things, including entertainment, clothing, technology, and travel. Additionally, they may also invest in education and personal development, such as attending workshops or taking online courses. However, the specific things that young people spend money on may vary depending on factors such as their interests, lifestyle, and financial situation. Why do young people tend to waste money? Young people may tend to waste money due to their lack of financial education and experience. They may also succumb to peer pressure or societal expectations, leading them to overspend on material possessions or experiences. Additionally, impulsive buying and lack of budgeting skills can also contribute to wasteful spending. It is important for young people to learn about financial responsibility and develop good money management habits early on to avoid financial difficulties later in life. Do people in your country like to save money? Yes, people in my country generally place a high value on saving money. The culture of saving and frugality is deeply ingrained in our society, and people are encouraged to save for emergencies, retirement, and other long-term goals. This is reflected in the high savings rate and the popularity of savings schemes and investment options. However, this may vary depending on the economic situation and personal circumstances of individuals. Part 2 - Topic 3 Describe a story you have heard What this story was about Who told you this story When you heard it How you felt about it I would like to tell you about a story that I heard recently which left a profound impact on me. It was a story about a young boy named Jack who lived in a small village with his parents. Jack was known for his laziness, and he would often spend his days idling away, playing games and avoiding any work that came his way. One day, Jack's father asked him to go to the nearby market to buy some groceries. Jack, as usual, was reluctant to go, but his father insisted, and Jack reluctantly left for the market. On his way, he met a wise old man who stopped him and asked him what he was doing. Jack told him about his task, and the old man asked Jack to take a look at his bag of stones. The old man then gave Jack a challenge, asking him to carry the bag of stones and walk towards his destination. As Jack took the bag of stones, he found it challenging to walk, and he stumbled and fell a few times. The old man then asked Jack to remove one stone from the bag and walk again. Jack found it a bit easier to carry the bag this time, but he still found it challenging. The old man repeated the process, asking Jack to remove one stone each time, until finally, Jack was able to carry the bag with ease. This story was told to me by my grandfather when I was a child, and it has stayed with me ever since. It taught me that hard work and perseverance can make even the most challenging tasks more manageable. I felt inspired and motivated after hearing this story, and it has helped me in many situations throughout my life. In conclusion, this story about Jack and the bag of stones is a powerful reminder of the importance of hard work and perseverance. It was told to me by my grandfather, and it has stayed with me since then, inspiring me to work hard and never give up on my goals. Part 3

Part 2 – topic 4 Describe an important thing you learned (not at school or college) What it is When you learned it How you learned it Why it was important When we think of learning, we often associate it with formal education at school or college. However, some of the most significant lessons we learn in life may not come from a classroom setting. Today, I would like to talk about one of the most important things that I learned outside of school or college. What I learned was the importance of empathy. It was not something that I learned at any specific time or place, but rather a gradual realization that came with my life experiences. Growing up, I was not particularly aware of the struggles that others might face, and it was only as I got older and encountered different people and situations that I began to understand the importance of empathy. One particular incident that stands out in my mind happened a few years ago when I was volunteering at a local community center. One of the people who came there regularly was a man who seemed aloof and unfriendly. I was initially put off by his demeanor, but as I got to know him better, I learned that he had gone through some tough times and was struggling to cope. This experience made me realize that everyone has their own story and struggles, and it's important to try to understand where they are coming from. Over time, I have come to appreciate the importance of empathy not just in my personal life, but also in my professional life. As I work in a customer-facing role, being able to empathize with customers and understand their needs and concerns is essential to providing good service. In conclusion, I learned the importance of empathy through a gradual process of personal growth and experience. While not something that can be taught in a classroom, it is an invaluable lesson that has helped me both personally and professionally. I believe that empathy is something that we should all strive to cultivate in ourselves, as it can lead to greater understanding and compassion for others. If parents model positive behaviors, children are likely to adopt them, resulting in well-behaved children. Conversely, if parents demonstrate negative behaviors, children may also learn and mimic those behaviors, leading to behavior problems. What can children learn from their parents? Children can learn a wide range of important life skills and values from their parents. For example, parents can teach children how to communicate effectively, how to manage their emotions, how to solve problems, and how to work hard and be persistent. Additionally, parents can instill important values such as honesty, kindness, respect, and responsibility in their children. Do you think employees must want to constantly learn new things? Yes, I believe that employees should have a desire to constantly learn new things. In today's fast-paced and ever-changing work environment, employees must be able to adapt and learn new skills to stay competitive and valuable to their employers. Those who are open to learning and growing are more likely to succeed in their careers and remain employable in the long run. Do you think learning new things is important? Absolutely, learning new things is crucial for personal growth, intellectual development, and career advancement. It helps us to broaden our horizons, gain new perspectives, and develop new skills and competencies. Learning new things also helps us stay mentally sharp and engaged, and can lead to greater fulfillment and happiness in life.
