Stress in Three-Word Phrasal Verbs, Part 1
Remember that stress means that native speakers say that word or syllable in a word a little
more strongly and with a slightly higher pitch.
The stress pattern of three-word phrasal verbs is generally quite simple: the particle, or
second word in the three-word phrasal verb, is stressed regardless of whether the phrasal
verb is separable or inseparable:
I think I’ve come UP with an answer to your problem.
Sarah doesn’t get aLONG with her mother-in-law.
I don’t feel UP to going to the party.
That liar screwed me OUT of $20,000.
Are you ever going to get aROUND to fixing the leaky faucet?
