Aim
Aims By the end of Year 4 students will be expected to reach a level of reading
and writing proficiency equivalent to Band C1 in the CEFR.
By the end of Year 1 students will be able to write, read and understand a range
of text types to a level approaching Band B1 in the CEFR.
II.
Objectives
By the end of the Year 1 students will:
e able to understand the main points in short
newspaper articles about
current and familiar topics.
erstand the most important information in short factual texts
most important episodes and events.
istinguish purposes in reading
them.
III. Indicative content
Text types (authentic materials as far as possible)
- Menus, recipes
- Timetables
- Short stories
- Horoscopes
- Personal letters
- Diaries
- Information leaflets, brochures (on exhibitions, films etc.), travel guides
- Magazine articles (interview with celebrities, horoscopes)
- Short newspaper articles on familiar topics
- Poems
