The solar system is the name for the Sun, and the planets with their own satellite moons, which 
revolve around it. It also includes the asteroids, which constitute belt of several thousand minor 
planets or planetoids, and various comets and meteorites, Nicolas Copernicus was the first to suggest 
the basic arrangement of the solar system, in contradiction to the previously held belief that the Earth 
was the centre of the universe. Most astronomers now believe that if our sun can support a system of 
planets, then it is mathematically probable that many other suns or stars also have planets.
