The rise of English Renaissance

• Started with Henry VIII (1509 ～ 1547)
• Declaring the separation from the Roman Catholic Church, implementing a large-scale suppression of the monasteries and confiscating the property of the Church to enrich the new bourgeois
• he started the movement called the Reformation, the essence of which is the fight of the bourgeois for power

The Height of the English renaissance

• The reign of Elizabeth I was a period of political and religious stability on the one hand and economic prosperity on the other.
• The Church of England was re-established
• 100 schools were opened through over the Great Britain (for both sexes)
• Oxford and Cambridge universities were opened for students on the basis of scholarship (they were called university wits)
• Great support of art, literature and theatre
