Our annual luncheon at the Mifflin Juniata Career & Technology Center was the feature of today’s meeting. Under the watchful eye of Lynn Scarton-Fohringer, Culinary Arts Instructor, the students performed very professionally in serving a nice garden salad followed by chicken marsala and rice pilaf. For dessert one could choose from the following great looking and tasting items: Banana chocolate chip cake with peanut butter icing; apple tart; lemon dream cheesecake; or carrot cake. Lynn several times thanked and acknowledged the administration for the brand new kitchen which had been installed recently during a six-week period.
We also thank Administrative Director, Daniel T. Potutschnig, for supporting our students in this very worthwhile venture and joining us today. Even with the downtime, the students showed they can cope by preparing and serving a first-class meal. About one-third of the class was able to be present today. Lynn says 14 of the 32 students will graduate this year and go onto further education or employment. Lynn, once again demonstrating her devotion to her students, gave us a student by student introduction to each student. A tour of the kitchen followed lunch. The students who prepared and served today are: Seniors Allen Kearney and Hanna Alderfer, Mifflin County and Troy Shirk, Juniata County; Juniors Janelle Yohn, Rachel Varner, Katelynn Hesser, Hanna Varner, all of Mifflin County; Sophomores Kirsten Beaver, Ashly Dickson and Adrian Wise, Mifflin County. We wish all of these students much success in their chosen professions and look forward to meeting them again either next year or a local establishment in the area. An Excellent job was done by All!!
No formal meeting was held, but thanks to Randy Miller for the invocation. Lynn Scarton-Gohringer Culinary Arts Instructor The Staff New state of the art kitchen at CTC

Seafood Dinner was the most successful ever. Preliminary figures indicate that the net on the dinner will be about $5000, with another $2400 coming in from the Silent Auction. According to action taken by the Board of Directors the dinner proceeds will be going to the Juniata Terrace Fire fund and those from the auction are going to PolioPlus. The contribution to the Juniata Terrace Fire Fund will be in addition to the $5000 which was presented to the Terrace officials on April 2
