Information security

Information security, sometimes shortened to InfoSec, is the practice of preventing unauthorized access, use, disclosure, disruption, modification, inspection, recording or destruction of information. It is a general term that can be used regardless of the form the data may take. Information security's primary focus is the balanced protection of the confidentiality, integrity and availability of data while maintaining a focus on efficient policy implementation, all without hampering organization productivity. This is largely achieved through a multi-step risk management process that identifies assets, threat sources, vulnerabilities, potential impacts, and possible controls, followed by assessment of the effectiveness of the risk management plan.
Also referred to as information security, cybersecurity refers to the practice of ensuring the integrity, confidentiality, and availability (ICA) of information. Cybersecurity is comprised of an evolving set of tools, risk management approaches, technologies, training, and best practices designed to protect networks, devices, programs, and data from attacks or unauthorized access.
Cyber security is the practice of protecting systems, networks, and programs from digital attacks. These cyber-attacks are usually aimed at accessing, changing, or destroying sensitive information, extorting money from users, or interrupting normal business processes. Cyber security is becoming a hot topic these days.

Advantages of Information Security:

• 
  Information security is extremely easy to utilize. For protection of less sensitive material users can simply password protect files. For the more sensitive material users can install biometric scanners, firewalls, or detection systems.

  As technology increases so will the crimes associated with it. Making the use of information security very worth while.
  
• 
  It keeps vital private information out of the wrong hands.
  
• 
   For the government it keeps top secret information and capabilities out of terrorist and enemy nation's hands.
  
• 
  Information security protects users valuable information both while in use and while it is being stored.
  

Disadvantages of Information Security:

• Technology is always changing so users must always purchase upgraded information security.

• Since technology is always changing nothing will ever be completely secure.

• If a user misses one single area that should be protected the whole system could be compromised.

• It can be extremely complicated and users might not totally understand what they are dealing with.

• It can slow down productivity if a user is constantly having to enter passwords.
