are impaled.
spirit process, n. ~ A technique to make multiple copies of a document from a master.

Notes: Spirit process and ditto are often used as synonyms. The master is a
heavy piece of paper, which is placed in front of a sheet with a coating of wax and
carbon.Writing or typing on the front of the master transfers the wax to the back
of the master. During printing, alcohol is used to dissolve a thin layer of the wax
on the back of the master, which is then transferred to a sheet of paper.
splice, n. ~ A joint between two separate pieces of roll film or tape to create a continuous
strip.
Notes: A splice may use cement, tape, ultrasonic welding, or other means to
connect the two pieces.
split screen, n. ~ Moving images · Two or more separate images presented simultaneously
within the same frame.

spoliation, n. ~ The intentional destruction, alteration, or concealment of evidence,
especially documents.
Notes: In general, courts have found that the routine destruction of records
after reasonable, scheduled retention periods is not spoliation.However, if there is
a reasonable likelihood of litigation or audit, destruction of relevant records may
be considered spoliation, even if the retention period has passed.

attempt to suppress material evidence by a party to the suit, favorable to an adversary,
is sufficient foundation for an inference of his guilt or negligence.
spool, n. ~ 1. A hub, usually with flanges, on which film or tape is wound for storage.

‘Simultaneous Peripheral Operation On-Line,’ but is widely thought to have been
contrived for the effect. To send files to some device or program (a spooler) that
queues them up and does something useful with them later. Without qualification,
the spooler is the print spooler controlling output of jobs to a printer; but the
term has been used in connection with other peripherals (especially plotters and
graphics devices) and occasionally even for input devices.
