Q10. Explain how you might introduce the present simple to a class of Beginners I Ask my students to think of a few common action verbs to start. To do this, perform a few actions, and then I ask my students to guess what it is. My students will probably guess the action verb "read" if I pretend to read by picking up a book, for instance. Write other verbs on the board, such as write, eat, run, etc., and do the same with them. Alternatively, if my students are total beginners, I can teach them some common verbs using these action verb flashcards. It's time to introduce the present simple tense in the first person singular once I've written a few verbs on the board in the root form. Then, practice saying each of these verbs while adding "I" in front of each one of the verbs you've written on the board. For instance, "I read. I write. I eat. I run. ", etc. Ask students to name some daily activities they engage in once you have practiced them sufficiently. Asking students what they did first that day will help you achieve this. The majority, if not all, of your students woke up that morning. Ask the class when they woke up after writing "I wake up" on the board. To make the present simple sentence, finish the sentence on the board. For instance, "I awaken at eight.". '. Then, write these examples of other daily activities or routines on the board. You can elicit the following examples of present simple sentences. I awaken at seven. At 8:00, I have breakfast. School starts for me at 8:30. I am ten years old and take English classes. At noon, I eat lunch. When three o'clock rolls around, I return home. At five, I finish my homework. At seven, I begin preparing dinner. At eleven o'clock, I go to bed.
