shunting work at railway stations
Technological support for maneuvers To perform shunting work, stations have special shunting track devices, shunting aids, as well as signaling and communication devices. Track devices include sorting humps and exhaust tracks. The sorting hump is a hill on the track (hump) with a slope towards the sorting tracks. The movement of cars occurs under the influence of gravity. The longitudinal profile of the hump consists of two parts: a sliding one and a lowering one (Fig. 6.1). To regulate the speed of rolling cars down the hill, brake positions (BP) with manual braking means are equipped on its descent part. In front of the hump of the hump, a small counter-slope is arranged, which ensures compression of the moving train, which makes it easier to uncouple the cars. Immediately after the hump of the hump there is a high-speed slope, on which the separation of the uncoupled car from the train is accelerated to ensure the required rate of sorting of cars. The magnitude of the slopes and the length of the profile elements will depend on the capacity of the hump and its technical equipment. Depending on the size of the processed car flow, classification humps of high, large, medium and low power are distinguished. Sorting Hill - Chukursay station depends on the size of the processed car flow, depending on the increased capacity. To process car flows of up to 250 cars per day, it is advisable to use exhaust tracks. Sorting of cars on exhaust tracks is carried out mainly due to the traction force of locomotives. In order to save fuel costs and speed up maneuvers, exhaust tracks are often built on a special longitudinal profile with slopes towards the sorting tracks. Such an exhaust path is called profiled. As shunting means for moving cars, locomotives, tractors and car pushers are used, as well as stationary shunting installations - car seaters, winches, electric pins, etc. The main shunting means is a locomotive, and of the known types of locomotives, a diesel locomotive is usually used. It can also be used for maneuvers in electric locomotives. However, it is not autonomous and can only be used on tracks where there is a contact network. Therefore, electric locomotives have found use in maneuvers only at some stations for pushing trains onto the hump and for moving heavy trains from one fleet to another. At Chukursay station, shunting locomotives are used, built mainly at domestic machine-building plants. These are diesel locomotives with electric transmission TEM 2 ( .s 1200 л. ) and a hump electric locomotive VL 60 K. To ensure shunting operation and compliance with safety conditions, the station is divided into 4 shunting areas: 1st district - disbandment of the composition; 2nd area – formation and rearrangement of ready-made trains; District 3 – work with local cars, maintenance of access roads; District 4 – work with local cars, maintenance of the freight yard. Modern shunting diesel locomotives provide shunting capacity of up to 6 thousand tons and can operate without equipment for up to 10 days. They are equipped with devices for remote uncoupling from the train from the driver’s cabin, as well as automation and communication systems. Shunting work at stations is ensured by a whole complex of signaling and communication devices specially designed for this purpose. To control switches and signals during maneuvers, separate local control posts are equipped, and route-relay centralization systems (RRC) provide for the transfer of shunting area switches to control from the consoles of these posts. Individual switches can be transferred from special shunting columns installed on site near the switches themselves. In the area of the hump, as a rule, a hump post is constructed, where the weight of a complex of control devices for switches, signals and brake positions is concentrated. All local work areas at stations are equipped with two-way loud-speaking park communication, and all shunting control posts and the shunting dispatcher have radio communication with shunting locomotive drivers.
