richard rosecrance
Richard Rosecrance is a prominent international relations scholar and one of the leading proponents of the "open-source" theory in international relations. The main postulates of his theory are:

  1. Interdependence: Rosecrance argues that the world is becoming increasingly interdependent and interconnected, leading to a reduction in the importance of military power and the rise of economic power.

  2. Information Technology: He emphasizes the role of information technology in fostering interdependence and global connectedness, making the world more open and accessible.

  3. The Virtual State: Rosecrance proposes that the state is becoming virtual, with decision-making and control being decentralized and diffused.

  4. The End of Geography: He predicts that advances in transportation and communication technology will render geographical distances and barriers irrelevant, making the world a single, interconnected space.

A relevant illustration of Rosecrance's theory is the rise of the global information economy and the growing importance of information and communication technology (ICT) in international relations. The increasing interconnectedness of the world, facilitated by the growth of ICT, has led to a reduction in the significance of geographical boundaries and increased the flow of goods, services, and information across borders.
Another example is the phenomenon of "virtual diplomacy," where states engage in diplomatic interactions through digital means, such as online meetings and virtual conferences. This demonstrates the decentralization and diffusion of decision-making and control, as well as the increasing importance of information technology in international relations.

Woodrow wilson
Woodrow Wilson was the 28th President of the United States and a prominent figure in international relations. His ideas and principles have had a lasting impact on the study and practice of international relations. The main postulates of his thought are:

  1. National Self-Determination: Wilson believed in the principle of national self-determination, which holds that people have the right to choose their own form of government and determine their own political destiny.

  2. Collective Security: Wilson advocated for the idea of collective security, which argues that the security of one state is inextricably linked to the security of all other states and that the international community must work together to maintain peace and stability.

  3. International Institutions: Wilson was a strong advocate for international institutions, such as the League of Nations, which he believed could help to maintain peace and prevent conflict.

  4. Democratic Idealism: Wilson believed in the transformative power of democracy and saw the spread of democracy as a way to promote peace and stability in the world.

A relevant illustration of Wilson's ideas can be seen in his role in negotiating the Treaty of Versailles after World War I. In the treaty, Wilson pushed for the creation of the League of Nations, which was intended to promote collective security and prevent future wars. The League was an early attempt at creating an international institution to address global security issues and reflects Wilson's belief in the importance of international cooperation.
Another example is Wilson's support for the principle of national self-determination, which he applied during World War I and after the war. Wilson believed that the people of the defeated Central Powers (Germany, Austria-Hungary, and the Ottoman Empire) should have the right to determine their own political future, and his ideas played a role in the reshaping of the map of Europe and the creation of new states after the war.
