Lesson Sequence


Opening Teacher greets with pupils and asks their mood.

Motivation/ Building background: (5 min)

  • Instructor shows some pictures about numbers and asks pupils translation of numbers. Then, pupils guess or say the translation of numbers.

  • Teacher can ask some questions about numbers:

    • What do you know about numbers?

    • Who can count me numbers in English?



Warm-up
3 min

  • Teacher shows some cards in which there are written numbers and activities. One pupil should count them. It will be more interesting if it is played music while pupils are performing.

Activity 1

Objectives: to develop pupils’ speaking skills and creativity

  • Pupils are divided into small three groups. Teacher provides pupils with large pieces of paper. Pupils in small groups are required to draw any kind of numbers or anything related to topic. After finishing the pictures, groups make up stories utilizing drawn pictures. Teacher mustn’t tell about story making until groups have finished drawing.

Work in groups and first decide what to draw

Teacher gives information about cardinal numbers. Then gives a task.

Of course, teacher gives information about ordinal numbers and also gives task 3 and explanation.

Of course, teacher gives information about fractional numbers and also gives task 4 and explanation.


Wrap-up 5 min

  • Pupils do crassword and some different puzzles.

Closing

Assessment: Pupils are assessed considering active participation. In competition, winner pupils are rewarded. Oral feedback is provided.

Homework: Vocabulary: Multi-part tasks are given as a home assignment.
