Software programs are usually divided into two categories: operating systems and application software. 2. The systems software controls a computer's internal functioning, chiefly through an operating system, and also controls such peripherals as monitors, printers, and storage devices. 3. Applications software is classified horizontal applications and vertical applications. 4. The hardware is all mechanical parts of the computer which consists of central processing unit (CPU), monitor, mouse, keyboard, computer data storage, graphics card, sound card, speakers and motherboard. 5. Specialized expansion cards are added to provide a motherboard's expansion slot to add further functionality to a computer, like networking and connectivity. 6. The function of the central processing unit is basic arithmetic, logic, controlling, and input/output (I/O) operations. 7. The mouse and the keyboard are used to type letters and numbers and to position the cursor, draw and execute program functions 8. The final results of the processing are given out an output. 9. The main memory consists of four types of memory chips RAM, ROM, CMOS and flash. 10. Software includes programs, libraries and related non-executable data, such as online documentation or digital media.
