The chart shows average weekly spending by families in one country in 1968 and in 2018.

Overall, families spending on food, clothing and footware and personal goods decreased noticeably in half-century, but the expenditure on Housing, Transport and Leisure has increased significantly.


The most significant spending was on Food with a 35% and a least one was Fuel and power with approximately 6% in 1968. Housing and Clothing and footware were precisely the same percentage in the first year. Finally, the cost of Household goods, Personal goods Transport and Leisure were nearly similar, the latter one was marginally more.
In 2018, weekly Food and Clothing and footware expenditure had decreased about twofold. Conversely, Transport, Housing and Leisure expenses have risen almost twice as many. The interesting spending was Household goods which remained stable in both years. Lastly, weekly spending on Personal goods and Fuel and power dropped considerably.
