6 DISCUSSION
Discussion about Critical thinking Why is critical thinking so crucial? What is it? Critical thinking is "the intellectually disciplined process of" according to the Critical Thinking Community. As a basis for belief and action, actively and skillfully conceiving, applying, analyzing, synthesizing, or evaluating data derived from or generated by observation, experience, reflection, reasoning, or communication (Scriven & Paul, 2007, p. 1). But, Kerr (2022) expresses a different viewpoint by characterizing this term as undefinable and pointing out that a certain action will not help to create it. In some cases, students have problems with critical thinking to understand the true meaning and how to evaluate it. As a graduate student, I applied an activity named “Question of the day” to that I gave my students open-ended questions in Google Classroom. Students added their answers and then replied to others. The outcome of activity showed better results in that approximately 75% of my students were aware of critical thinking. While I consider "critical thinking", and "problem-solving" to be essential concepts in the educational system, they now have very specific connotations in the context of the contemporary classroom. I can suggest that problem-based assignments could be instructive, involve questions, be useful, etc. Reference Kerr, P. (2022) Doing critical thinking to others.
