The pie chart illustrates causes of the worldwide lands degradation, and the table chart describes the distribution of that on three regions of the world in the year 1990.
Overall, it is clear from the pie chart that agricultural land has lost productivity due to three main sectors, namely over-grazing, deforestation and over-cultivation. Looking at the table we can see that most of them fall on the European continent.
In 1990, over-grazing was one of the main reasons that effected the agriculture land became less productive, and this figure was 35%.There were, also, the deforestation and over-cultivation sectors that caused of worldwide land degradation, accounting for respectively 30%and 28%.
When it comes to distribution of those by regions, Europe was the leading continent in terms of total land degradation, amounting to 23%.The percentages of deforestation and over-cultivation were much more than other regions, with making up nearly 10%and 8 %.Oceania was the second continent in terms of it, and this figure was 13 %. Almost all of this proportion was accounted for by over-grazing, which was around 11%.North America was the last region with the lowest proportion in all sectors, accounting for only 5%.
