CHAPTER 3: RESEARCH METHODS
Research Design: The current study will be longitudinal research design with more quantitative and less qualitative components. The quantitative phase consists of time series data and its analysis and reporting in order to provide meaningful interpretation in report form, whereas qualitative phase includes the recommendations and published arguments of specialists of financial and economic market. Expected Outcomes: The following outcomes will be obtained by the end of the research. Measurement the impact of Banks’ return on assets on the economic factors like GDP and Balance of trade. Analysis of the financial markets and the commercial banks in the Pakistan. International comparison of the bank industry of Pakistan with other context of the world including developed countries. Publication of research project after completion of the study. Method of Data Collection: The data of banks’ return on assets will be gathered from the financial statements of an official bank’s website. The term (return on assets) is comprised on the ratio of net income and total assets of a bank. So the respective elements will be gathered through balance sheet section in the annual report. All the commercial banks situated in Pakistan will be considered while data will bring together. The average means score of return on assets will be taken of all Pakistan banks and data will accumulate on annual basis with the purpose of getting a single value for the year. The data of GDP (Gross Domestic Product) is already available in furnished form and ready to use in analysis after gathering, whereas economic factor BoT (Balance of Trade) will be available in factorial from that comprise on export and import. The published data of economic factors will be collected through the World Bank official website. Sampling: Last 30 years of data will be taken (from 1985 to 2015) on the annual basis.
