The theme of the lesson: Lesson 4. Cambridge.


The aim of the lesson:


Educational: Giving information about new theme Cambridge, generalizing the

knowledge of the pupils on the new theme, enlarging the vocabulary of the pupils.




Developing: developing pupils’ writing, reading, speaking, and listening skills.


Bringing up: bringing up all pupils in the spirit of loving Motherland.


The type of the lesson: mixed.


The method of the lesson: reproductive.


Expected results: a) to increase pupils’ vocabulary, oral speech.
b) to talk about Cambridge.
c) to increase pupils’ interest to English
Equipments: 7th form “Fly High”, computer, map, pictures, handouts, cards, blackboard, a piece of chalk.
The beginning of the lesson:
I. Organizing moment:
a) Greeting.
b) Duty’s report.
II. Checking up homework:

  • What was your homework for today?

  • Who is ready the answering them?



III. The presentation of the lesson:
Task 1. ex. 1a Look at the map and answer the questions.

What country is it in?


What part of the country is it in?


What do you know about Cambridge?


Task 2. ex. 1b Read and check your answers to 1a.

Cambridge is a very old city in the east of England about 80 kms from London. It is


famous for its university.




Task 3. ex. 2a Read quickly and say which of these places are in a town or city

near you.


1. Puppet Theatre


A small friendly theatre with puppet shows for adults and children. On Saturdays and during the school holidays you can learn how to make a puppet put on a show!

2. Martin’s Internet Café


Enjoy a cup of tea with your friends. Then play your favourite computer games or talk on-line on the computer to your friends overseas. Or find information for the Internet. Open 7 days a week. 11.00 am – 11.00 pm 1per hour.

3. Boating


Sit back and relax. See the University from a boat. Enjoy a sunny day in a punt on th River Cam. Punting looks easy – and it is easy, if you know the secret! See the University from a boat. Scudamore’s Boat Hire Open 10.00 am – 7.00pm.

4. Cambridge University


The students at Cambridge University live and study in colleges. Some of the most famous colleges are King’s College and Peterhouse. King’s is famous for its choir who sing all kinds of music and make a lot of recordings. Open all year round except
23 Dec – 3 Jan and 24 April – 25 June (exam time) Free admission.
