Overall, it is clear that there was an increase in the total value of fish imports. Looking at the pie charts we can see that the percentage of fish source in Chine where imported to the USA grew while the figure for Canada significantly fall during the whole period.
In 1988, the United States spent $6.57 billion on fish imports, and this figure witnessed a steadily increase over the year. The amount of it was 8.52 billion dollars after four year. The country's expenditure on fish imports amounted to 10.72 billion dollars in 2000.
Regarding the sources of fish in different countries, the majority of fish imported into the United States came from Canada, which was 60% in the beginning. The figure for this, however, considerably decreased during the years, and it was 28% in 2000. China was the least country in terms of fish imports in 1998, with making up only 13%. The percentage of this constantly increased, and it reached 30% in the end of the period. Moreover, in 1992, 46% of US fish imports came from other countries.
