Aims:

-To learn identify different movie genres

-To develop describing a movie using new vocabulary

-To develop describing types of films and something they have seen

Level: Intermediate+

Introduction

This lesson consists of a series of activities to help students discuss film and genres. To prepare them some handouts, they will be crossword and film quiz. The main focus of the lesson is a presentation based on history of film and its genres. Students will be asked questions relating to their comprehension of the film, and their opinions towards ideas about genres in the presentation.

Teaching methods and techniques: learner-centered method, brainstorming method, content-based method

Procedure

Matching task(3 minutes)

Give out Worksheet A

Put students in small groups and ask them to match definitions with the right film type.



Grammar exercise(4 minutes)

Give out Worksheet B Put students in 2 groups. Working with the people in their group, students use the question words from the box to complete the movie conversation questions on the worksheet.

Film quiz(8 minutes)

Give out Worksheet C Put students in 2 groups and ask them to do the crossword.

Through this activity students increase their vocabulary knowledge.
