- Visual Arts
- Visual arts programs offer the participant of any skill level an opportunity to learn new techniques or mediums. These classes provide the necessary foundation of skills that will assist the participant to progress to use colour or more advanced drawing techniques. Basic art classes introduce the artist to a variety of forms such as acrylic, watercolour, traditional oils to conte, pencil crayon and pastels.
- Workshops
- The City provides many opportunities to experience seasonal, holiday or special interest workshops for all ages and abilities. Some workshops are short and last only a couple of hours, while others require a few days to complete. Workshops generally focus on a certain theme and the participants leave the program with a completed project. Participants may be expected to provide some and/or all required materials.

Program Information - Program Information
- Parks, Forestry and Recreation offers exciting Early Years recreation programs that align with the regulations under the Child Care and Early Years Act.
- • The Act defines program age requirements for children age 5 years and under.
- • Your child must reach the specified age of the program by the first day of class.
- • Programs for children under 3 years of age are required to have a caregiver attend the program.
- Programs with a Parent/Caregiver
- Registered programs are intended solely for the individual client that is registered in the program. Programs “with caregiver” require a parent or caregiver of at least 14 years of age to directly supervise the participant that is registered and actively participate in the program. Additional children are not permitted to attend unless also registered with appropriate caregiver present.
All Other Programs - All Other Programs
- Children develop independently through active play and structured, instructor supervised activities. Parents or caregivers do not attend these programs.
- Washroom Guidelines
- Programs without a parent/caregiver are intended for children who are toilet trained. To ensure your child’s successful participation in the program:
- • Encourage your child to use the washroom before the program begins.
- • Tell staff about any special toileting routines or signs your child uses when they need to use the washroom.
- • Pull up training pants are acceptable in the program. (Staff cannot change diapers.)
- • If your child requires a special needs support worker to help with personal care, please notify your Community Recreation Programmer.
Food Allergies and Restrictions - Food Allergies and Restrictions
- The City of Toronto and its staff cannot guarantee the contents or ingredients in foods or supplies within programs. If your child has a food allergy or restriction you must notify staff at your program location.
- Pariticipant Pick-up
- Participants are expected to be picked up at the end of Early Years Instructional Programs without Caregivers. Participants who are picked up late will have a fee of $1 for each minute late applied to their program registration account.

- This drop-in program provides a safe place for children to participate in a variety of supervised, unstructured recreational activities. Through active play, children will explore fundamental movement, fine, and gross motor skills. A Caregiver must accompany the child. Staff supervise, facilitate and organize activities but do not instruct in this program. Drop-in programs do not require pre-registration.

- Cards and Games
- There are a wide variety of cards and games programs offered where participants can socialize while taking part in a fun activity. Participants can learn a new skill in an instructional program, or come to a drop-in program where no formal instruction is provided and participants can join at any time.
- Clubs
- Participants are given the opportunity to interact and make new friends while participating in supervised activities. Clubs can be focussed around an activity or interest, such as books or games, or may be designed for the interests of a particular age group or gender. There is no formal instruction and participants can join at any time.
- Computers
- Participants of various skill levels will develop their knowledge of computers and programs through instruction. Programs may focus on specific topics such as emails, video game and web design and may be designed for different skill levels such as beginner, intermediate or advanced. There are also drop-in computer labs for you to access various computer programs and the internet – no formal instruction is provided.

- Cooking programs teach participants the basics of how to measure and combine ingredients while making delicious recipes. There is a variety of interest-specific cooking courses available that

- Parks, Forestry and Recreation offers a progressive introduction to sport through a variety of beginner to advanced introductory level programs.
- • Start to PLAY! programs introduce younger participants to the fun of sport through activities and games that will help them develop sport-specific skills
- • PLAY! programs are for participants from 6 to 12 years of age and introduce basic sport-specific skills in a fun environment that focuses on individual development and team work through activities and mini-games.
