DVD script:

Girl: ‘Hello!’

Boy: ‘Hello!’

Girl: ‘Can I have a pencil?’

Boy: ‘No, sorry.’

Girl: ‘Can I have a pencil,

please?’

Boy: ‘Yes, here you are.’

Girl: ‘Thank you.’

STEP 2: Ask the pupils to work in groups. One of them asksa question ‘Can I have ...?’ with and without the word “please”,and the other one answers ‘No, sorry.’ or ‘Yes, here you are.’ Accordinglylike the scene they have just watched.

Homework 5 min

Ask the pupils to look at the homework. Make sure the pupilsknow what to do. You can hint that they can write ‘Yes, here youare.’ only then when the question is very polite.
