Learner profile: The target student, Bunyod, is a student at the Tashkent Dental Institute. He is a 23-year-old fourth-year student. As he stated, he had been independently learning English throughout his school years till he defined and set goals for the future. Bunyod has set out to study English extensively in order to connect him to a wider access to internet materials relevant to his specialty and boost the likelihood of acquiring a decent job overseas after learning about the work chances in Canada. Because He is confident that he can study the language effectively, accomplish his learning objectives, and outperform the foreign corporation he wants to apply to in order to pursue a master's degree there, he finds attending classes that are focused on the IELTS exam to be helpful.
As far as his prior knowledge was concerned, he had gone to a school where formal education was favored and where it was essential to read the books recommended by the school administration. Given that the class was mostly comprised of beginners and students at varied levels, additional techniques such as the Grammar Translation method and the Indirect method were also employed. As a concentrate on an IELTS exam because he thinks he can learn the language well, achieve his goals from learning it, and receive a higher score than the multinational company he wants to apply to could ask of him with the likely purpose of taking a master's degree overseas.
As for his educational background, he went to a school where formal instruction was promoted and where it was vital to read the material that the management of the school provided. Additionally, the class had students who were primarily beginners and students at various levels, therefore the Grammar Translation method and Indirect method were used. He was learning English originally out of interest, but he was unable to pick up the language as quickly as he had hoped, It's necessary to note that he prefers to watch English-language movies and talk programs and read articles on topics related to his line of work because they help him get a feel for how English sounds and teach him common expressions. In other words, he understands the fundamentals of grammar, can interact in conversations concerning his personal interests, and can convey his thoughts on general subjects. At the moment, he is emphasizing receptive abilities while taking speaking and writing into consideration. His courses emphasize the superiority of prescriptive grammar through the use of deductive reasoning. Despite possessing a greater vocabulary, he finds it difficult to produce the language accurately.
In addition, he is learning Russian in addition to Uzbek, which can be useful for comparing the two languages and accelerating the learning process. He currently speaks English at a preintermediate level, in my opinion.
