The events take place in the middle ages in one of the misty cities of the UK called Beatitudo. Times were hard. People were nasty and unhappy, they were rude to each other. Percenters think only about how to grab some more money from the poor debtors.

And our hero Ethan Miller, who is one the most authoritative person in the city was the biggest percenter there. He was very demanding person. Even he didn't stand his words. He agreed to lend money for a month and he demanded it very soon, after two week he send the letters of returning money with percents. As common workers had very low income, sometimes they had to borrow some money from Ethan even if they know that it does not lead to good . And for his cruelness in the whole town he got nickname of "Drainer". He saw happiness only in wealth. Even his storehouses were full of grain and goods he didn't feel himself financially secure and all the time searched for a new ways of making money. He had a wonderful loving family. His wife and three children loved him very much and tried all the time to persuade Ethan from his dark works. Because he was not like that before. He was kind and loving father and husband, but now his eyes could not see anything other than wealth. Money already had taken over his mind and heart. Now all the people around him were getting against to him and there were some gossips about him in the town that he made a deal with demons.
"But how he became like that? What bring him to such kind of things?" - these questions were even mysterious for his family...
His wife many times tried to speak with him, but any positive results. He turned such a person after travelling to Egypt with his friends...
Finally, after a year of struggles his wife could persuade him to go to Himalayan mountains as she heard that there were
monks that could help people to become a kindhearted person. She heard that kind of story from her neighbors. About how cruel ones became kind people.
Now it was time for Ethan to go on the road. He felt nervous and barely sit in the carriage. His wife and children wish him good luck and hope to see him happy person again soon.
He was going to realize the true meaning of his life. Now he is sitting in the carriage on the uneven ways and tried to understand what brought him to this situation. Because he didn't even notice how mean he had become, how materialistic he had become. Now he had plenty of time to think about everything. Because there was a long way to go.
It was freezing winter and the windstorm started. So they stopped at the nearest inn and wait for windstorm stop. From the walls of the inn you could understand that the owners of this place do not earn much , as they were too old and even were not painted and it seemed that it would fall now , because the old house adabted to the inn. If there was not a light in the house they would consider this inn as a ruins and perhaps would not stop there.
They were greeted with warmth by the owner of the inn,Mr.George. When he entered he was offered by the landlady to a hot tea as it was cold. So he stayed there for a night. Even on the next morning the storm did not stop and he had stay again. As there was nothing to do he talked to Mr.George ver a cup of hot tea. Mr.George was very outgoing person and he spoke to Ethan about their village, his own live, how he worked on a ship and had been almost in ten countries and met so many people with different and difficult fate, and understood how lucky and happy he is . Ethan was surprised by his story because he saw happiness only in wealth, only in the things that are visiable and touchable…
After the storm he is on the road again. After one and half months he is finally in Himalayans, and was looking for the place of the monks. From local people he got information that monks live only on the mountains and do not usually come to the city. So he decided to go there. It was not an easy job to climb the mountain and he often stopped to rest. When he had left half way to the top of the mountain he met one passerby on the road. And he told him that he was looking for monks. The passerby show him the road to their village and disappeared in a few minutes in the air. He was lucky because local people told him that there was a ghost of he old kind monk who sometimes appears to the people whom he liked.
Now is the time tell the reason why he became such a mean person. He went to the Egypt and on the road he met the fortune-teller and she told her that he would die in lonelyness.He belived her as she told him and his friends that she is from the the Pharaoh’s famous forune-taller’s generation. After her words he was scared and decided to gain more and more wealth in order to not let that happen to him. Because he thought that he can do everything witth money. But, actually she was a lier, at that time she tricked them and took their money in a easy way.
So, after challenging road to the monks he is finally there. He was met here with tolerence by the village’s people. For the first time in his life he was shocked there. Every day people there woke up very early and do the all tasks in a good mood. Everyone was very kind to each other and the village was full of optimism. They helped each other, and live happy peaceful life. What the most surprised him was the appearance of the people. They all looked very young, agile and strong even their real age was much older than Ethan’s. He was eager to know the secret of their happiness and their health condition.
Monks decided to help him after hearing his story about his life and why he came here from long distance. He stayed there for six months and during this period he was taught by their oldest and wisest monk. He woke up early in the morning every day and went to the garden where held their another lesson. Finally he understood the old teacher’s words about life when he came here first: “The best and the most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched - they must be felt with the heart.”
He undrstood that he is the happiest person ever. Because he had loving and supporting family and also had enough wealth to live a happily till the end of his life and plenty of knowledge about life that won’t et him stay lonely, as he wanted. He realized that in order to not stay alone when he is old he shoul be gentle, kind, caring and respectfull to the people around him.
