NEWS Wiggin and Dana LLP is pleased to announce the expansion of its White-Collar Practice Group with the addition of former federal prosecutors James I. Glasser and Joseph W. Martini. Both join as partners in the firm’s New Haven office. Mr. Glasser joins the firm from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Connecticut and Mr. Martini joins from the firm Pepe & Hazard LLP. “Jim and Joe command great respect from the Connecticut legal and business communities and will be significant assets to our leading White-Collar practice group,” said firm Chair Maureen Weaver. “We look forward to having them on our team.” “Wiggin and Dana’s White-Collar practice has experienced steady growth since its inception ten years ago,” said David Fein, chair of the White-Collar Defense, Investigations and Corporate Compliance Practice Group. “Jim and Joe join us with great experience as former federal prosecutors, and we’re delighted to have such fine and talented attorneys join our practice group.” Mr. Glasser is a 19-year veteran of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Connecticut where he held several senior positions. Most recently, Mr. Glasser served as Counsel to the U.S. Attorney and Chief of the Criminal Division, responsible for all Criminal Division activities in Connecticut. Previously, he served as Chief of Appeals and as the Supervisory Assistant U.S. Attorney in charge of the Bridgeport Office. Following the attacks of September 11, Mr. Glasser was appointed to head Connecticut’s Anti- Terrorism Task Force. He received numerous awards during his tenure with the U.S. Attorney’s Office, including the prestigious Department of Justice Director’s Award. Before joining the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Mr. Glasser was a litigation associate with Mudge Rose Guthrie Alexander & Ferdon in New York. In his new role at Wiggin and Dana, Mr. Glasser represents individuals and corporations in white-collar criminal prosecutions, grand jury investigations, internal corporate investigations, and related regulatory matters including anti-money laundering, Bank Secrecy Act, USA Patriot Act, and OFAC compliance. He also handles criminal appellate matters. Mr. Glasser holds a J.D. from Brooklyn Law School and a B.A. from the University of New Hampshire. Prior to joining Pepe & Hazard, Mr. Martini served as a federal prosecutor for nine years, and received the Department of Justice’s Directors Award for Superior Performance as an Assistant U.S. Attorney. His practice focuses on white-collar criminal defense, internal investigations, corporate compliance and criminal appeals. Most recently, Mr. Martini represented a former Connecticut State Senator in an appeal of bribery, mail fraud and tax convictions. He regularly represents individuals and entities in prosecutions and investigations involving a broad range of federal criminal laws, including tax fraud, bankruptcy fraud, bank fraud, mail and wire fraud, securities fraud, money laundering, and municipal corruption. Mr. Martini holds a J.D., cum laude, from Brooklyn Law School and a B.A., cum laude, from Gettysburg College.
