Stonehenge is an ancient monument situated about ten miles north of Salisbury in England. It was built about 4500 years ago, but why whom and what for that purpose remains a mystery. The builders must have known of geometry. They may have been influenced by the Mycenaen`s, whose architecture was similar. Some of the stones must have been brought from west Wales, over 135 miles away. These stones weigh more than fifty tons. They may have been brought on rafts and rollers. King Tutankhamun was just a teenager when he died. He was the last king of a powerful family that had ruled Egypt for centuries. When he died in 1322 BC. Tut ( as Tutankhamun is often called today) was placed in a luxurious, gold-filled tomb. There he lay forgotten until the tomb`s eventual discovery in 1922. Although we now know a lot about his life, the reason for Tutankhamun`s death at such a young age has remained a mystery, with murder the most extreme possibility. Now improved X-ray technology is offering new clues into king Tutankhamun`s death.
The British archeologist Howard Carter opened Tut`s tomb in 1922. Although it had been robbed in ancient times, it was still full of gold and other amazing items. Carter spent months carefully recording the treasures. When he and his team then attempted to remove king Tut`s mummy, they found that it had become attached to it`s solid gold coffin. Unfortunately, they did a great deal of damage to the mummy while removing it.

Mail carriers had to ride very fast. They would change horses every 10-15 miles at a relay station. After 100 miles a new rider would take over. The Pony Express did not last long because it had many problems. The people who gave money to get it started didn`t get much money back. The letters cost too much to send. In 1862, The Pony Express ended.
