This writing test is an optional section of the end-of-course test. There are three versions, A, B, or C. Each student needs to do only one of these versions. Please use the marking scheme to help you score your students.
WRITING TEST A
You recently visited a new restaurant in your town. Write a review of the restaurant to post online. Write 100–120 words.
In your review, you should give your opinion of:
• the quality of the food
• the service
• the atmosphere
• the prices
WRITING TEST B
You have seen an advertisement for a job you would like to apply for. Write a covering letter to Mr Wilson, the manager of the company, saying that you wish to apply for this job. Send your CV with the letter. Write 100–120 words.
WRITING TEST C
You recently organized a party for your partner’s birthday, but everything went wrong on the day. Write an email to a friend to explain what happened. Remember to use time expressions in your email. Write 100–120 words.
