Communicative Lexis (5-ing-22)
Activity 1.Brainstorming. The Teacher first divided the group into two to classify advantages of city and country life. Then the group members explained disadvantages of city life and country life.
Achievements. Both groups exchanged ideas.
Activity 2. Critical thinking. The teacher asked the Ss’ option whether to live in the city and or in the country. They discussed the facilities in the city and in the country.
Drawbacks: Teacher spared much more time in speaking skill.
Activity 3. Listening. Ss should write down the “adjectives” in the 4 speaker’s recordings which described city and country life.
Achievements: Teacher tried to interact passive SS by making them read the answers. SS wrote down the adjectives used in the recordings on the blackboard. Teacher asked the meaning of the adjectives and why those adjectives were used. ???
Achievements: Ss learned how to use unfamiliar vocabulary after the analyzing the usage of them in the context of city and country life.
Activity 4. Writing. Ss should write the opinions in the paragraph about “Big city”, “Village”, “Mountainous area” or “Coastal area” in a group and one member will demonstrate the group’s idea.
Achievements: It helped Ss to use Critical thinking. She integrated Writing and speaking skills, as well, to practise the vocabulary in communication connected to the Theme.
Home assisgnments: to write essay about advantages and disadvantages of city and country life. (250 words)
