for manuscript titled “Conventional extraction of dog rose seed: process variables, economical evaluations” from PhD A.I. Sanoev, S.Yu. Yunusov Institute of the Chemistry of Plant Substances, Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan
Waste product of the industries of pharmacy and food are seeds of dog rosehip, dog rose (Rosa Canina L.) that can be extracted oil with richer source of polyunsaturated fatty acids. These essential fatty acids can be used for skin care, restriction of formation of eczemas and water loss, healing impacts on dermatoses.
In term of processing, extraction has been performed by several methods such as screw pressing, enzyme threated screw pressing, supercritical fluid extraction, solvent extraction, so on. Although dog rose seed oil by screw pressing and enzyme threated screw pressing is possible, the amount of oil is low and is not economically feasible.
Although dog rose seed oil by screw pressing and enzyme threated screw pressing is possible, the amount of oil is low and is not economically feasible. Solvent extraction is more applicable even by supercritical fluid extraction can be to obtained high oil amount and oil with good quality. However, SFE needs more investment.
In this study, conventional extraction has been performed for the aim of understanding an impact of the temperature and extraction time on oil yield. It is without doubt that longer extraction time and higher temperature increases oil amount but the energy lost may increase due to the rise of this parameters. In this regard, 2 hour’s extraction time and 50 0C temperature and solvent to solid ratio 5:1 are the most suitable variables in this study. Moreover, economical evaluation of extraction of the dog rose seed process has been demonstrated that it is the most feasible. I do recommend of the research work for publication.
