If the world view of this day includes more than 250 countries with administrative-territorial boundaries, independence, language, religion and culture, then all of them have their own indestructible history. On this map there are well-known archaeological and architectural monuments that have made them known to the world and inspire people to see them from any corner of the world.
Basically, when we hear about the civilization of Egypt, China and India, the first thing that comes to mind is the temples of Egypt, the Great Wall of China and the Buddha statues that have become the pride of the countries. Among these monuments, the Egyptian pyramids stand out and attract the attention of many. The reason is that everyone is surprised by the purpose and methods of its construction.
If this monument is world-famous, there is also a unique pyramid of Karakalpakstan, which is considered the "Egypt of Central Asia" on the Asian continent. This pyramid is called Shilpik. When a person hears about the Shilpik monument, the Republic of Karakalpakstan, kind people living there, sweet and delicious food, unique and unique national traditions, and unique clothes of the Karakalpak people woven from unique fabrics come to mind. . The presence of the Shilpik, one of the state symbols, in the coat of arms of the Republic of Karakalpakstan indicates its high historical importance. The reason is that just as the Great Wall of China and the pyramids are considered sacred for the people of China and Egypt, this monument is also considered sacred for the people of Karakalpakstan.
The land of Karakalpakstan, located between two great rivers, is one of the centers of world culture. Two and a half thousand years ago, large cities were founded in this area, which has become the center of science, knowledge and culture. Large cities such as Chilpik, Bazarkala, Koykirilgankala, Mizdakhan, Topirahkala were built. Chilpik has a special position among them. This monument, located in the Amudarya district of our country, still has mysterious sides.
Russian tourist A. E. Rostikova, who was familiar with Chilpik, said in 1902 that the monument is very beautiful and is located on a high hill by the river. Local residents say that it was built by a brave named Chilpik. It is also said that there are Arabic inscriptions, some hieroglyphic inscriptions, and incomprehensible drawings on the walls of the fortress.
The historical monument was built in the 1940 years by Gulomov and S.P. Tolstov, and in the late 1960 years by archaeologist Yu. P. Manilov conducted research. As a result, it was determined that the archaeological treasures of Chilpik belong to the I-IV-VII-VIII, IX-XI centuries.
In 1959, the ethnographer H. Esbergenov wrote down the lines that Shilpikti is a holy place where miraculous spirits live. Khiva Khan's horsemen, who were collecting taxes from the people of Syrdarya, saw pilgrims near Shilpik. Despite it being prayer time, when the horsemen come to find out who they are, Chilpik makes sure there is no living creature nearby. They reached Khiva and told the khan what had happened on the way.
According to the Chilpik tradition, Chilpik is said to have built a stone madrasa from the side of the fort to raise their spirits. Haqatan was also built here in the late 18th and first half of the 19th century by Khojanioz, the ambassador of Khiva Khan, the ruler of the Kipchak fortress. The madrasa, chaired by the son of the prominent marifatshu Imam eshon Qayipnazar of our people, will break down on the side of the Russians in 1929.
The Chilpik bottom is 130-150 meters wide and 30-33 meters high. The secret that the old walls are 15 meters high and remain to this day lies in the quality of the clay used in construction and the installation of water tanks that protect them from floods that occur in spring and autumn.
Ethnographer X. Esbergenov believed that the dead were brought to Shilpik at first on the principles of Zoroastrianism and then Islam, and were moved and buried elsewhere after appropriate traditional services were carried out. Shilpi is one of the most popular places of worship in the South Island. He was visited by young spouses, childless brides, sick people. Until the beginning of the 20th century, folk games were held on the Shilpik Square on the occasion of the Navruz and Hayit holidays.
In 1990, an experienced specialist in the history of architecture of Central Asia, doctor of architectural Sciences S. M. Bulatov considers it an astronomical control area. The Professor assumes that astronomical research was carried out using a "secret door" pierced by thick walls to the right of the memorial gate.
In conclusion, Shilpika, which has a special place in the history of our people, survived despite the influence of external factors. Today, various good deeds are carried out on the territory of our republic in order to bring them to the next generations. Recall that on March 4, 2023, the action "my contribution to cultural heritage" was launched by prosfessor students of the Department of cultural heritage of the Republic of Karakalpakstan and the Faculty of history of the Karakalpak State University named after Berrdaq. As part of the campaign, various waste was collected from the monument around it and the necessary tree seedlings were planted. There are a lot of such monuments in Karakalpakstan. Among them are monuments that have not yet been excavated. In turn, such noble deeds testify to the fruit of the fruitful work of our youth, especially to educate them in the spirit of patriotism, respect for the historical and cultural memory of our motherland.
