2017 Fremont Hills Junior Team General Manager
June has been a whirlwind month! Great weather means the pool is hopping and the golf course is busy. I would like to welcome Analisa Revoir as our new Front of House Manager in the Grill and Pub. Her background includes over 20 years of experience at establishments such as: Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen, Joe’s Crab Shack, and Johnny L. Morris’ legendary golf course Top of the Rock. She is a great addition to our wonderful staff here at Fremont Hills. We are in the midst of some upgrades to our facilities. We have started with some cosmetic upgrades to our traffic markings, painted the old clubhouse and around the pool, new umbrellas, and the west stairs are being repainted too. With planning from our Long Term Planning committee, our next big project will be the old wood shed. The first phase of this project will be to move Sam’s storage area for sand, mulch, etc. over behind the pool. The second phase will be to remodel the wood shed into a pavilion and snack shack area. Two-thirds of the building will be a covered, open patio with seating and a scoring area. The last part will be a snack shack that can be accessed by carts driving by or from the pavilion as well as adding two restrooms. This will make the turn much faster and alleviate the need to come up to the restaurant between nine’s. This project is completely funded by member donations. We are really excited for this project and as decisions are made, I will share more information with everyone. Club events in July include: Couples Invitational, Children’s Miracle Network Tournament, and our new Pig n Pool party. I know a lot of you head to the lake over the weekends but you need to keep the date of Saturday, July 22nd open as our new Pig n Pool event (hosted by the Social Committee) is going to be a blast. A classic pig roast with smoked meat specials and lots of fun and games will make this event a huge hit. Mark your calendars and RSVP to the restaurant now. We would like to welcome a record 32 new members from the June board meeting! Golf - Gary & Cara Lee Brown, Cary Cooper & Angie Lange, Keith Mills, Sean & Debra O'Connell, Steve Sexton, Kenneth Cook & Kelly Townsend, Brandon & Ashley Chapman, Brian & Amber Draper, Brian & Lauren Henry, Sean Larson & Tonya Jasper, Daniel Mullis, Mark & Rachel Myers, Jordan Needham III, Jordan & Montana Bright, Carrick & Melissa James, Tripper Jensen, Parker Ramsdell, Jonathon & Daryl Shamel, Nathan Branham, David Burky, and Jackie Reed. Social - Christian & Michelle Auzias de' Turenne, Vanessa Grimaldi, Zachary & Elizabeth Montgomery, Bay & Pepper Mourer, Scott & Lori O'Dell, Jason & Katie Osburn, Mathew & Dinara Placzek, Brian & Megan Reevley, Tony & Alma Ridenhour, Allen & Elizabeth Whitmer, and Paul & Christie Windisch. See you at the Club!
Grill and Pub As most everyone is aware by now, Fremont Hills Country Club is undergoing changes in the restaurant. As a member, I am thrilled to see the impact these changes will make. As an employee, the staff and I, have our work cut out for us. Anywhere you go, you know that things are constantly changing. This is statement of our ever changing economy that has had so much impact on the food and beverage market. To keep up with these demanding changes, Fremont Hills Grill and Pub had to make a few adjustments. We always want to offer affordable prices on the freshest meats and produce and unbeatable deals on cocktails and crafts for our members. Some of your favorites have not been affected but some of you will notice small price adjustments. These adjustments had to be made in order to continue to offer your favorites as well as introduce some new favorites. A new menu is to be introduced very soon with a few returning favorites and some very new entrees that will excite your taste buds. The Pub at Fremont Hills has also brought back a few familiar faces and added some new ones. Stop by for a drink special and reacquaint yourself with some old friends. While you're at it, maybe make a new one.

June gave us great weather on Tuesdays. Our Member/guest day was held on June 6 th . There were 60 players and the theme was good fortune and luck with Lady Bugs. The weather was great and the players had a wonderful time. The food was excellent and the table decorations were beautiful. Thanks to Connie Erickson and Nancy Brown for the decorations. The tee gifts were lady bug pins and lady bug golf balls.
If you are playing in the Fremont III, you should have been notified that you got in the tournament. The event is August 1 st & 2 nd .
Many of our ladies league members played at Highland Springs, Hickory Hills, and Twin Oaks in June. Sever- al of our members won prizes!!!
It's That Time of the Year!!! CHILDREN'S MIRACLE NETWORK GOLF TOURNAMENT Monday- July 17th
Volunteers Needed & Much Appreciated For several years now the Ladies League has gladly met the request of the Children’s Miracle Network to provide volunteers for the tournament. We, and our guys, have always stepped up. This is one of the most popular outside tournaments of the year. Members of Fremont receive much credit from players for a well run tournament. Needless to say CMN much appreciates our support.
A League sign up sheet is now available!! The sign up sheet will be available at League play on Tuesdays and then in the back ladies bathroom. Sign up early for your preferred spot!! Thanks much. Dona Elkins 724-8718 dona.elkins5@gmail.com
On June 8 th a social mixer was held at Millwood golf club. There were around 100 players from Fremont Hills, Hickory Hills, Millwood, Twin Oaks and Highland Springs. The players were paired in groups of four by their handicaps. A luncheon and an awards presentation followed play. Several of our ladies league mem- bers won prizes. The next social mixer will be at Fremont Hills on October 3 rd . We will expect to have around 100 players also in attendance.
Our Fremont Hills couples event is July 8 th and 9
th . The entry forms are on our website and in the pro shop.
Sandy Moya, league president Ladies League 4 Mary and Steve Angell joined Fremont Hills County Club in 1970. From this date 40 plus years forward Mary has served the club like no other member has. Mary and Celia Melia ran the pro shop for free in the 70’s because we had no golf professional as we were a nine hole golf course. They also sold hot dogs out of the pro shop.
Mary played a lot of golf and was a very good golfer. She had a double knee replacement with one surgery but that only slowed her down for a short while. Along with Sarah Stein, Mary ran all of the golf tourna- ments since we did not have a pro. She organized the couple’s tournaments in the 80’s and played with Casey Moya until 1998. Her husband, Steve, did not play golf.
Mary helps out for most of our tournaments as our local “bookmaker”. She has taught many club members to play bridge and mah jongg and is famous for her peanut butter fudge.
Mary is the check-in and registration lady for most of the league and club tournaments. She has also spent many years as the check-in and chip-in lady every Tuesday morning for our league even when she had to give up golf. She has volunteered to hand out cool towels and water for our league tournaments many times. She was league president and held other league offices, is currently a member of the restaurant and tournament committees. She also was on the Fremont Hills board of directors for quite a few years. Mary is an amazing member of our club. We doubt that any of our other members have done as much for our club as our Mary.
Mary is truly our resident angel. She recently decided to change her membership to social and will enjoy dining with her many friends. The league will miss her terribly every Tuesday morning. She will be a tough act to follow. Ladies League 5 Pro Shop

The team of Grant Johnson and Jeff Johnson took the Championship Flight of the Flighted Division. Thank you to all the teams that played this year. All the results can be found on the Fremont Hills webpage. The 2017 PGA Junior League season is underway and we have completed two matches. We won our first match against Rivercut but fell to Millwood in the second match.
Please stop by the Pro Shop and pick up a Men’s League Rules Sheet. With the large turnout every week, this will help speed things up.
Grounds & Greens
7 It was a roller coaster of a Spring. We received around 25 inches of rain during April and May. Southwest Missouri typically averages around 40 inches of precipitation per year. Needless to say, it showed up out on the course. The weather has been rather good after the rain finally stopped. June ended with night time temps in the 50s and 60s, which always helps the bentgrass. The further we get into July without hot weather the better. This season we have added three fungicide applications to the pesticide program. The green surrounds will receive these apps during the summer stress period (June – August) to help fight off disease. These applications combined with seeding fescue instead of ryegrass last fall should greatly improve the turf condition around the greens. I am still experimenting with the new greens roller. This is an additional tool that will improve putting conditions throughout the year. There are multiple programs that are used at many different courses around the area. It allows us to mow and roll to speed the greens up for a tournament, or roll instead of mowing which lowers the amount of stress on the turf during the dog days of summer. Finally, the extra seeding/fertilization has dramatically improved the rough. It is thick!! Some might disagree that thick rough is a good thing, but there is now a definite transition from the fairway to the rough. Unfortunately, most of the rough is not irrigated; however, if we can continue fertilizing and seeding as necessary it should stay in better shape. If you have any questions regarding the course please contact me.
