LESSON PLAN FOR BIOLOGY CLASSES
FORM: 10
LANGUAGE: English
TOPIC: Levels of life structures
I. OBJECTIVES: At the end of the lesson students are expected to:
A. Identify what kind of levels of life structures there are
B. Differentiate appearances of elementary life structures;
C. Know grammar rules about Present Simple and the verb “to be”.
Reference: 10th grade General Biology

Activity 1. Read the text below and translate using the vocabulary at the end of the theme. Look through the pictures on the bottom. (20 min)
Biology is the sphere of science which is come from the Greece word “bios - life, logos – the subject”. It studies living creatures like fauna and flora. There are levels of biology:

  1. Atom

  2. Molecule

  3. Cell

  4. Tissue

  5. Organ

  6. System of organs

  7. Organism

  8. Population

  9. Biogeocenosis

  10. Ecotism

Atom is a corpuscle with little electrons, proton, neutron . Molecule is nucleic acid, protein, carbohydrate. It shows all the chemical features of substances. Cell , the Latin word cellula- a little box, is the functional and developing unit of all living creatures. Cell is the least part of living organism.

Activity 2. Do the laboratory work. Take the microscope and use it in order to compare the features of biologic units given in the pictures above with the real ones.(20min)
Activity 3. Match the words with the definitions a- i below (10min)

  1. Sphere a) physical material from definite chemical constitution

  3. Creature c) a being thing

  4. Fauna d)system of knowledge

  5. Flora e) plants’ environment

  6. Corpuscle f) an area of dealing with something
