The other spending on medicines was on homeopathic remedies, which are medicines made from highly diluted substances, and was close to $4 billion. The rest of the spending was on practitioner treatments - massage, chiropractic and osteopathic care - and on mind-body exercises such as yoga. Together, the cost came to just over $12 billion.
