Some people claim that young people who are committing crimes should be dealt with the same as adults without dividing into age categories. I strongly oppose the declaration, and this essay will hold the reasons for my view.

Firstly, it is true that the rate of crime is increasing among the youngesters as a result of ignorance and lack of experience. However, juveniles should not be punished in the same way as adults because it affects their prospect in a negative way. For instance, if juveniles imprisoned, the prison atmosphere would make them aggressive and change them for the worse as they have to live and communicate every day with the real criminals such as gangsters and killers. Thus, such kind of situations influence the behavior and psychology of young people and they may engange in crime even after release from prison.
Secondly, it is fact that in most cases, the conditions of prisons does not meet the requirements and criminals are brutally punished and kept in very poor surroundings. Obviously, it is really hard to survive such kind of circumstances for young people because these can affect their health and cause various diseases, as a result it can lead to premature death of the young. For example, mortality rates are high in detention and have been shown to be as much as 50 per cent higher for prisoners than for people in the wider community. Hence, young generation should be protected such kind of situations.
In conclusion, I totally disagree that young people commiting crimes should be treated the same way as adults because in this way, the young generation may change not for the better, but for the worse.
