18. At the airport
The Müller family is planning their vacation. She goes to a travel agency and gets advice from an employee. She chooses Mallorca as her destination. The Müller family books a flight to the Mediterranean island. They also book two rooms in a large hotel right on the beach. The Müller family likes to swim in the sea.
On the day of departure, Mr. and Mrs. Müller take a cab to the airport with their two children. Many vacationers are already waiting there. They all want to fly to Mallorca. The Müller family has a lot of luggage with them: three large suitcases and two bags. The bags are hand luggage.

19. Professions

There are very many different professions.
A teacher teaches students and teaches them different things. In an elementary school, teachers teach children how to read and write. Teachers also work with older children and teenagers. There they usually teach a certain subject, math or languages for example.
Another profession where you have to study at university: Doctor. A doctor treats sick people in a doctor's office or hospital. He examines people and finds out what is wrong with them.He prescribes medicine or other treatments. There are many different doctors, some are surgeons, others are ear specialists or dentists.

20.A day in Berlin
Hélene and Fabien are 5th grade students at a high school in Paris. Together with their class, they will visit the city of Berlin for one day. Berlin has been the capital of Germany since 1990. Before that, Bonn was the capital of the Federal Republic.

In the past, Berlin was divided into two halves: One half belonged to the western part of Germany - the other half belonged to the eastern part of the country. For this reason, Hélène and Fabien first look at the former border. A wall ran here from 1961-1989. It was called the "Berlin Wall."
