Resort Meaning: What Is a Resort?

Travelers frequently wonder how a hotel and a resort are similar and different. Both hotels and resorts offer guests a place to rest and space to relax. A resort, however, goes beyond that. Resorts provide recreational activities for their guests. Often, a resort will specialize in a particular type of recreation. Some specialized recreation resorts are based around sports like skiing or golfing. Others specialize in their surroundings, like beach or mountain resorts. The most important thing to remember when booking a resort is that guests get much more than a place to rest their heads at night.
