2.Motivation
(5 minutes)

Before we proceed to our lesson. Let us first identify whether the reading materials that I will be showing to you require SHORT time reading or LONG time reading.

  2. Short Stories

  4. School Calendar

  5. Novel


  1. Short Time Reading

  2. Long Time Reading

  3. Short Time Reading

  5. Long Time Reading

3.Presentation
(1 minute)

“Great observation. Based on the activity, different reading material takes different length of time to read depending on your purpose.”

Today, we are going to discuss about different Types of Reading Styles and when to use it.






4.Discussion
(15 minutes)

Can someone please read the definition of Reading Style?

And there are different reading styles that we can use according to our purpose. Let us discover them.


Form yourselves into 4 groups


In your group, you will discuss the following: (See Attachment 1)


After 5 minute of discussion, you have to answer the questions written on the board and report your answers by writing it on a manila paper, cartolina paper, or you may use a power point presentation if you have any laptop with you. For each group, only one representative will report their topic.


This Activity will take only 10-15 minutes and you have 2-3 minutes to report.


Questions:





  1. What is Skimming? Scanning? Intensive Reading? Extensive Reading?

  2. When do we use these reading styles? Give examples.

Reading Styles are different strategies to get important details or information from the material we are reading.

(Students will form a group)


(Students will discuss the topic given to them)
