EXXPERIMENTAL WORK №3

A study of the Pelton turbine
Purpose: To study the model of the Pelton turbine installed on the stand.
The turbine design is shown in figure 2.1.

Figure 2.1. Pelton turbine model design (only one bucket shown for clarity)

The Pelton turbine model consists of:
- Glass window 1 for engine monitoring; - output shaft 2;
-3 Pelton turbines;
- buckets 4 (7 pieces);
- close the lid 4;
- Hose 5 (2 pieces);
- hole 6 for supplying fluid to the outer casing 5;
- nozzle body 7 with fluid supply channels;
- - Rear cover 8;
- needle 9 to control the flow through the nozzle;
- bottom mat 7;
- hole number 10 to drain the liquid.
The turbine works as follows: The liquid entering the nozzle body 7 through the hole 7 enters the nozzle, passes between the edge of the nozzle and the adjusting needle 9, and hits the buckets 4, which change the direction of movement, resulting in a force Driving the disc 3. From the disc rotation is transferred to the shaft and then to the load (generator).
Experimental part Check out the Pelton turbine model mounted on the stand. Find the corresponding parts of the turbine in Figure 2.1 and on the stand. 1. Turn on the stand force control system. Move the selected frame of the indicated flow meter to the left (flow through the left corner) 2.Turn the claws of the adjusting needles of both nozzles clockwise. (Do not move the inner cap too much, as this will damage the nozzles) 3. Turn on the pump.1. Open the left corner (turn the rotating needle counter-clockwise), adjust the flow rate to 5-6 l / min (if the mausoleum does not rotate at this flow rate, increase the flow rate before the turbine rotates to the specified value). 2. Wait for the steady state flow rate, write down the flow rate and rotational speed of the turbine line in table 2.1. 3. Open the nozzle, increase the flow rate to 2-3 l / min.

  1. Repeat steps 6-7 until the case is fully opened. 2. According to the data in Table 2, create a graph of the frequency of rotation of the turbine shaft to the fluid flow rate. 3. Making a conclusion on the dependence of the rotation frequency of the turbine shaft on the fluid flow.
