ABSTRACT
The use of energy-efficient technologies and renewable energy sources in modern high-rise buildings is a requirement of the 21st century. Low power wind generators can be used to power the lighting systems of buildings, as a backup source of elevators. Wind turbines can be used not only to power the lighting system of a multi-story building, but may also be used in the energy supply of houses. This article mentions various small vertical type wind turbines and applications in various buildings.
Keywords: renewable energy sources, wind turbines, VAWT, lighting system.
In the last hundred years, renewable energy sources, including wind energy, have been developing rapidly. Due to the possibility of using wind energy in various fields, developed and developing countries are leading different trends in the development of this field. For example, Germany plans to develop 80% of its energy consumption by 2030, i.e. 15 GW of wind power. In Brazil, in 2021 alone, wind turbines produced more than 3GW of power and 1.4 GW of power was generated by wind power in India[1]. While in the first half of 2021, 27,6 Gigawatt were added, the world installed 28,9 Gigawatt in the same period of 2022. This equals an annual growth rate of 13%, when comparing the total installed capacity end of June 2022 and end of June 2021. With this, the global installed capacity stood in June 2022 at 874 Gigawatt [2].
