Introduction 
The current gender assessment was performed under the USAID Agricultural Value Chain project 
supporting the Development Objective #1 under the USAID’s Regional Development Country Strategy 
– Expanded Diverse and Competitive Trade and Markets implemented by DAI under the independent 
consultancy (1002589-IC-15-25623-00) to help in designing a gender strategy with the objective of 
ensuring that women are equally targeted and equipped and their capacities strengthened in the 
agriculture sector. 
The strategy includes a review of relevant earlier gender assessments within international, regional or 
national literature and summarizes the salient points of local regulations of Republic of Uzbekistan related 
to gender in agriculture as well as other donor project experiences and summarizes the salient points of

assessment also incorporates the analysis of AVC project Components and provides highlights of key 
informants’ interviews conducted during a field trip visits of the gender specialist to Uzbekistan
