The effi cient development of oil deposits confi ned to carbonate deposits which are substantially aff ected by cracks is a current challenge. Uneven and rapid water cut of well production is considered as one of the factors which makes the process of development of carbon deposits more complicated. Aim. In purpose to optimize an effi ciency of the development of the carbonate deposit of the oil fi eld of the Timano-Pechora oil and gas province, the application of in-situ water shut-off technology is substantiated. At the same time, determining the probable causes of watering of well products is one of the main parts of the work. Material and methods. To lower watering, the geological and physical characteristics and the history of the development of the deposit under consideration are analyzed for possible sources of watering. For the analysis, the analytical methodology proposed by K.S. Chen was chosen, which is based on the results of a numerical study of the dynamics of water infl ow during an advanced breakthrough of injected water or the formation of water cone. Results. Based on the analysis of the dynamics of the water-oil factor change and its time derivative in bilogarithmic coordinates, as well as the dependence of watering on the volume of water pumped through the injection well, the main causes of watering are revealed.
